KARAKTERISASI RECYCLE ALUMINIUM SCRAP UNTUK PISTON

Kemampuan aluminium yang dapat di recycle (daur ulang) menjadikan sebagai salah satu material dikembangkan untuk menggantikan penggunaan primer. Keterbatasan ketersediaan dunia karena penggunaannya terus meningkat scrap pilihan mengurangi produksi primer (bauksit). Penggunaan komponen mesin menjadi alternatif keberlangsungan (sustainable) industri kedepannya, satunya adalah piston. Proses dilakukan dengan cara melebur ke dalam tungku hingga temperatur 570 ⁰C. pengecoran lakukan menggunakan dapur krusibel. Aluminium telah lelehkan kemudian dituang cetakan ingot. Karakterisasi hasil meliputi uji komposisi kimia, mikrostruktur (mikroskop optik) dan pengujian mekanis (uji tarik kekerasan). Material tergolong kategori hypereutectic memiliki Si sebesar 20,21 %. Unsur tinggi pada spesimen membuat coran Al getas. Dendrit terbentuk lebih besar (coarse) jika dibandingkan piston asli berakibat kekuatan kekerasan turun. Komposisi kandungan silikon unsur lain merupakan upaya meningkatkan keuletan selain laju pendinginan agar ukuran butir struktur mikro halus. Memodifikasi proses perlakuan panas juga mendapatkan sifat mekanik diinginkan.
